March 4, 2026 (Ankeny, IA)—SABER Chemical took home a $10,000 prize and a year-long membership to IowaBio, winning the 2026 Biotech Showcase competition on Wednesday March 4.  During the Showcase six biotech companies selected by a special committee, pitched to a panel of expert judges.

SABER Chemical is a startup delivering compostable high-performance bioplastics with superior toughness and sustainability. Co-founder Dr. Baker Kuehl, Ph.D. presented on behalf of his company.

The Ag Startup Engine also selected SABER Chemical to have the opportunity to receive a $25,000 investment from the Ag Starup Engine, upon due diligence.

The pitch competition takes place as part of the IowaBio Showcase and Conference (IBSC) at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
