Iowa Biotechnology Association receives $10,000 grant to fund Future Biotech Leaders Fund


DES MOINES, Iowa (June 7, 2023) – Iowa Biotechnology Association of Des Moines has received a $10,000 grant from Agilent Technologies to fund Future Biotech Leaders Fund.

The Agilent Technologies grant will be used to support students, teachers, schools, colleges, and universities through scholarships, stipends, programming and competitions that encourage and enrich STEM education. In 2021, the Future Biotech Leaders Fund was opened to better support IowaBio’s STEM activities. The fund is managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and is used to support IowaBio’s efforts to advance STEM across the state.

“We thank Agilent for their generous donation and know that the funds will help us further STEM efforts in Iowa.” said Jessica Hyland, executive director of IowaBio. “We are excited to continue working with our member companies and members of the public to support the critical mission of growing STEM across the state.”

IowaBio has provided over $200,000 in STEM funding to students and teachers statewide over the past 20 years. In addition to supporting teacher stipends, student scholarships and travel stipends for students and chaperones, some programs historically supported by IowaBio that will continue to be promoted by the Future Biotech Leaders Fund include:
